Governance

Developed by Drone Federation India (DFI). Hosted by Airports Authority of India (AAI).

DFI leads technical architecture and long-term sustainability as digital public infrastructure. AAI provides exclusive production hosting and shares maintenance at institutional scale.

Committee membership and institutional representation are listed under Governance and Steering.

Project Steering Committee

The Project Steering Committee owns strategic governance: policy alignment, ecosystem health, and public safety.

  • Policy alignment. The system evolves with national aviation law.
  • Ecosystem health. Fair participation of Asset Manufacturer and Asset Owner organisations.
  • Public safety. Airspace security is prioritised over operational convenience.

Technical Committee

The Technical Committee owns technical governance: API stability, data integrity, and vendor neutrality.

  • API stability. Core endpoint definitions and schemas are protected from breaking changes. Breaking changes increment the path version (/v1).
  • Data integrity. Unified models for User, Organisation, and Asset keep the registry consistent.
  • Vendor neutrality. No manufacturer or service provider receives preferential access to system resources.

Change control

  1. Identification. Integrators, manufacturers, or government operators raise a requirement.
  2. Impact assessment. The change is evaluated for backward compatibility, mission and flight-plan logic, and security of the API auth edge.
  3. Documentation. Approved changes are recorded in this documentation first.
  4. Implementation. Code is promoted through the environment cycle.

Participation

Stakeholders take part through technical working groups and the channels described in Support.
